What’s with the No-Show Fee?
• The intent of this policy is to prevent delays in care and utilize provider time more efficiently by reducing unused appointment slots. If students promptly cancel appointments they cannot make, that appointment is available for another student.
With support from the Student Health Advisory Committee, Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) has implemented a “No Show” policy to improve access to primary care (including nutrition consultations and IUD placements) and mental health counseling for students. Students who no-show for their scheduled primary care or counseling appointment will be charged a $15 fee. Students who no-show for a scheduled IUD placement appointment will be charged a $30 fee.
In any given month, students not showing up for their scheduled appointment results in SHCS having on average 45 unused appointments. These appointments go unused when the appointment could have been rescheduled and offered to another student needing to see a provider for, often times, acute needs.
If students were to cancel appointments they cannot make in a timely manner, access for primary care, nutrition consultations and counseling appointments would be easier for all!
Student Health hopes this No Show policy will help you in scheduling care in the timeliest manner possible and make more efficient use of provider time.
Late Arrival Policy
If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment there is a possibility you may not be seen by your provider. Being seen for your appointment will be left to the discretion of your provider based on the nature of your concern and the schedule of the provider.
