Service Modification and How to Best Access Service
Medical
- Please review our current list of Primary Care resources available to you.
- In-person visits for medical concerns and HIPAA-compliant Zoom visits can be booked online through the MyHealthRecord portal or by calling us at 415-476-8736 and asking if there is a same day or urgent care appointment available. You will be directed to a nurse who will schedule you appropriately.
- If you have an urgent concern and there is no online appointment available within what you believe is a reasonable time, please call us at 415-476-8736 or send a secure message to a student health nurse. To the extent that it is possible, we will try to accommodate your need by scheduling you in a same-day or urgent care appointment slot, or direct you on where to go for urgent care.
- If you have symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath, or if you've had close sustained contact with a known positive COVID-19 case, do not come in. Send a secure message to the Student Health Nurse or schedule a zoom visit for medical advice and care instructions.
- For guidance on whether your medical concern should be addressed in an in-person appointment or a telehealth appointment, call 415-476-8736 to speak to a nurse or send a secure message to the Student Health Nurse.
- For life-threatening emergencies, proceed directly to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
Laboratory test requests
- Please schedule an appointment with a primary care provider if you are requesting laboratory tests other than TB testing.
- Asymptomatic STI screening can be completed by scheduling an appointment with a student health nurse.
- TB Testing is being done via Quantiferon blood test only. No office visit required. Please send a secure message to the Student Health Nurse to request a test.
Counseling and Psychiatry Services
- Our counseling and psychiatry model has been adjusted to meet the immediate needs of students and to preserve the health of students and staff.
- All in-person visits have been curtailed. All visits will be conducted by phone or HIPAA-compliant Zoom meeting.
- If you would like to discuss your concerns and options for getting help, you can schedule an initial consultation appointment via the portal.
This consists of a 20 to 25 minute phone call with a counselor at SHCS. If you encounter any challenges with scheduling, please give us a call at 415-476-1281 so that we may assist you. - If you have a current mental health provider and would like an appointment with your provider, please contact them via secure message.
- Next Day web booked appointments are available via the portal (can be scheduled 24 hours in advance).
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Clinical Groups are available each quarter and are a great way for students to connect with peers, learn new skills and strategies, and grow both emotionally and educationally.
