UC Student Health Insurance Plan
The University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) provides travel benefits through Bluecard PPO for all enrollees. Bluecard PPO provides short-term insurance coverage up to 12 months with 24-hour telephone access to health providers, assistance with emergency care and evacuation if needed, on-line access to services and country-specific health advisories, among other benefits.
Evacuation Coverage
Bluecard PPO will arrange and pay for ordinary and necessary expense of air and/or surface transportation, medical care during transportation, communications and all usual and customary ancillary charges incurred in moving and transporting a Member to the nearest hospital where appropriate medical care is available, which may be a location other than the Member’s Home Country. Bluecard PPO will also arrange and pay for the reasonable and necessary cost for airfare for the Member to return to his/her/their Home Country.
